LAST DAY - worth seeing

It's nearly here, the end of the maltafestival poznań 2010. In a way, the finale of this year's edition will also be an acknowledgment of the Festival's early days. Tonight's concert at Lake Malta, with the intriguing title The Discreet Charm of Traingles or Tercet Egzotyczny's Passionate Show, directed by Cezary Studniak, will be a remarkable story about women with an ambience similar to the films of Pedro Almodovar. Tercet's star, Izabella Skrybant-Dziewiątkowska, will epitomise women of various temperament and sensitivity, whilst the beautiful stage set will provide a perfect background to this exciting musical journey. We are in for many surprises, for example the participation of…Paweł Kukiz! We invite everyone to Lake Malta, Finishing Line at 10 p.m. Free admission.

But before the great finale, we can still look forward to a day packed with artistic encounters:

At 11 a.m., in the Museum of Archaeology Courtyard, Anna Królica will lead a meeting with Ugo Dehaes who presented two entrancing dance shows, Forces and Couple Like (you can watch the latter show again tonight in Maski Theatre Centre at 7 p.m.). Also in the Courtyard, at 3 p.m., Piotr Gruszczyński invites you to a meeting with Luk Perceval, one of the major European theatre artists and the director of The Truth About the Kennedys (which will be presented again in Teatr Wielki at 7.30 p.m.).

At 5 p.m., in the Museum of Archaeology Audiovisual Hall, we will show Blush, a film by Wim Vandekeybus. Shot in 2004, the 52-minute feature was based on Vandekeybus' successful performance of the same title. Carried by the music of David Eugene Edwards and Woven Hand, with texts by the Flemish author Peter Verhelst, Blush is a dazzling voyage swinging between the heavenly landscapes of Corsica and the slummiest depths of Brussels.

And if you did not have the opportunity to see Sutra yesterday, we greatly encourage you to see the fantastic show by the brilliant Flemish/Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui tonight (Poznań International Fair, Hall 7A, 6 p.m.). Sutra is the effect of the artist's stay (with the sculptor Antony Gormley and the composer Szymon Brzóska) in a Chinese Shaolin temple. The dreamlike show, featuring monks, Zen disciples, focuses on the bond between an adult and an 11-year-old. Sutra combines yoga with Sufic trance, miming, the sign language, speech and spontaneous singing.

Another opportunity to celebrate will present itself at 9 p.m. at the 5th Birthday of the Old Brewery New Dance at Malta! Warsaw's Melba Kolektyw invites you to their Impro Jam Party (Old Brewery, Słodownia 3rd Floor). The collective comprises dancers and musicians who normally follow different artistic pathways, but get together on stage to improvise. Creating their work in front of audience they want to share their vital spontaneity and their reflections on the changing reality.
