Music for the theatre, theatricalization of music, or perhaps music and theatre as two independent elements? It is not easy to describe the work of the group Targanescu; they themselves are reluctant to contain what they do in a label; the term “road music” appears closest to them. They are permanently on the move, just like the sounds they evoke. The basic source of inspiration is the concept by Lolo Targanescu, the already forgotten legendary visionary, composer, theoretician and conceptualist, a celebrity of the European underground. They convert his theory into sound matter saturated with the power of opposites and charm of contrasts.

Composition of the ensemble is unusual and changes like the kaleidoscope; the hard core are the colourful trio: Katarzyna Klebba (violin, viola), Paweł Paluch (bassoon, zurna), and Arnold Dąbrowski (keyboard instruments). In various line-ups, for over twenty years they have been scoring performances, films, radio dramas and cabaret shows. They met while working on “III Wieczór Olbrzymów” by Teatr CINEMA from Michałowice in 1999. In 2003, already as a multi-thread, open stage project named Targanescu, they presented their first original performance of “Muzyka przerażająca, potargana i inne wesołe piosenki”. They give concerts at home and abroad, have taken part in several domestic and international festivals. Associated with the Poznań theatre scene since time immemorial, they have collaborated with Teatr Ósmego Dnia, Teatr Nowy and Teatr Polski. Their appearance at the ‘Malta’ will be already their sixth.
