Theater Gajes

Open space, dynamic plot, fantastic costumes of stilt-walkers, giant, moving elements of the set, multi-talented actors and musicians. These are but a handful of ingredients of the recipe Theater Gajes have been using for twelve years to prepare their impressive shows (although stilts came to be used only in 2000). All this is intended to create a theatre of simplified message, understandable to audiences wider than the group of the so-called “experts”. Spectacles by the Dutch company are to captivate the viewer with their enchanting stories, give him a moment of rest and reflection. They are to entertain and surprise, beguile and overawe, and, first of all, maintain the fabulous feeling of euphoria and tension throughout the entire performance.A number of pieces by the ensemble follow these assumptions: No one will buy this (1994), a ”mildly dangerous” street show, Mind your bones (1997), a piece about the end of our times, Never gonna fight no more (2000), a Medieval tale delivered entirely on stilts, Garden of delight (2006), the story of Creation, and Alice in Wonderland (2004), the open-air production they have brought to Poland.
