Of(F) Love

Duration: 50 min

A draft, improvised version of the "of(F) love" performance was created within the framework of the Salon of Music held at the Castle. Its present look, complemented by the creative presence of the dancers and a plastic and dramatic space formed through e.g. references to William Blake's poem, stays in a principal, dominant relation with compositions of contemporary Dutch artist, Jacob Ter Veldhuis. His pieces are characterised by minimalism and intensive imagery at the same time.

I went to the Garden of Love,

And saw what I never had seen;

A Chapel was built in the midst,

Where I used to play on the green.

And the gates of this Chapel were shut,

And ‘Thou shalt not' writ over the door;

So I turned to the Garden of Love

That so many sweet fl owers bore.

And I saw it was fi lled with graves,

And tombstones where fl owers should be;

And priests in black gowns were walking their rounds,

And binding with briars my joys and desires.
