Keret

HARAKIRI FARMERS
Duration: 1h 10

Description

"Keret" is a theatrical performance characterised by extensive movement and enriched with video projections. The inspiration for the spectacle are short stories written by an Israeli writer Etgar Keret whose imagined world - absurd, ironic and much contemporary - Harakiri Farmers want to compare with extremely ambiguous space: the synagogue at ul. Woroniecka, which is now the Municipal Swimming Pool.

The pool is the meeting place of Lifeguard, Girl and Actor 2 who share the passion of telling stories and presenting these stories to themselves and to the audience. This is just the spirit of Keret: the ironic use of shortcuts in modern mass media to show the brutally logical and seemingly banal stories provoking reflection but at the same time ending with a lyrical moral. This is also a diagnosis of the present day: man is not capable of having romantic feelings and great passions. What he is only left with instead are stories, trivial situations and existential sketches.
