Address: ul. Aleksandra Fredry 9

Description

Teatr Wielki (Wielki Theatre) is a building which, together with Collegium Maius, comprises part of the so-called "Imperial District". It was erected in the first decade of the 20th century as the new seat of the Municipal Theatre which, until then, had been located in the Arkadia building. The first show was staged in 1910. The distinctive features of the edifice include a triangular tympanum crowned with a Pegasus figure and the figures of a man with a lioness and a woman with a lion on both sides of the monumental stairs.
