Teatr Dada Von Bzdülöw
Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre was founded in 1993 in Gdańsk by director and choreographer Leszek Bzdyl and by dancer and choreographer Katarzyna Chmielewska. They are an independent group of professional dancers and actors who produce performances in cooperation with Polish and foreign cultural institutions, including Teatr Wybrzeże, Gdańsk; Klub Żak, Gdańsk; Dance Advance, Philadelphia; Les Hivernales, Avignon; Stary Browar, Poznań and Teatr Nowy, Łódź. To date, Dada have produced around 40 performances, including The Doom of People; The Man Who Was Lying; There Wasn’t, There Won’t Be, So There Isn’t; Sonata; Apartment no 7; Dialogus in conventione and Drop Dead Gorgeous. The company members have also worked in many international productions staged in Germany, Belgium, Sweden, England and other countries. These projects have included Landscape X in Stockholm (the show The Rape of Europe directed by Piotr Cieplak, 1998) and SEAS (the show ODYS-seas directed by Leszek Bzdyl, 2004). Between 2005 and 2006, Dada von Bzdülöw took part in the Trans Danse Europe project and between 2000-2008 Dada cooperated with Klub Żak, Gdańsk where, in 2002, the company initiated a new dance theatre and contemporary dance festival, Gdańsk Dance Corporation. In the season of 2008/09 Dada cooperated with Teatr Nowy, Łódź, and since 2009/10 it has been in close cooperation with Teatr Wybrzeże, Gdańsk.
