Faith No More

The living legend Faith No More enjoys a fan following of several generations and continues to be a major reference for many contemporary genres of rock and its alternative varieties. The music of this California band, which reunited in 2009 after an eleven-year-long hiatus, is an eclectic combination of heavy metal, rock, rap, jazz, soul and pop, as well as several other seemingly remote styles. A number of prominent bands, for instance Metallica, Alice in Chains and Guns N’ Roses, have named Faith No More as one of their favourite acts, whereas Nirvana’s bassist and cofounder has cited them as a band that “paved the way for Nirvana” in the late 1980s. Together with, for example, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction (who, with Nine Inch Nails, was the star of Malta Festival Poznań 2009), Faith No More prepared the ground for the explosion of guitar-driven underground rock which took the 1990s music scene by storm. Faith No More has released seven albums of which The Real Thing and Angel Dust certified platinum and gold, respectively, in the US. The band has received three Grammy nominations whilst their concerts invariably attract crowds of fans owing largely to their charismatic frontman, Mike Patton.
