Divadlo Continuo was founded in 1995 by a group of artists working in a theatre affiliated with the Theatre Academy for the Performing Arts in Prague. The international group is headed by Pavel Štouraè who is the artistic director. They work in the village of Malovice, in a former farmstead. Each of their projects clearly displays their fascination with puppetry, the circus and street art. By using so many artistic devices Continuo is able to speak to viewers in a unique language which critics have described as "the new Central European dreamy imaginativeness". Divadlo Continuo has always availed of non-theatrical spaces like courtyards, abandoned factories and historic buildings. During the 15 years of their existence they have become a leading theatre group in the Czech Republic and have gained considerable international renown.
