Ugo Dehaes wanted to be a dancer or an engineer. He chose dancing, but his choreographies often show a scientific perspective and focus on physics. Forces is a study of the four forces that keep the world in balance: gravity, electromagnetism, weak nuclear force and strong nuclear force. These physical phenomena are soundly set in the physicality of the stage and translated into astounding images. Work on the show was carried out during two week sessions in different venues and with different dancers. This resulted in popsongs, short dance etudes which were shown to an audience upon completion. Later, these etudes were put together in the form of a rock concert. Like a playlist, they do not have any predetermined sequence and the order they are shown in can vary.
