23 June 2009, Poznań International Fairs
performs as a Nine Inch Nails support
After releasing The Golden Foretaste of Heave in 2008, Alec Empire is releasing now 7-tracks mini album Shivers. The album gives the foretaste of the material that will appear on the next, long expecting album.
Shivers is the newest product of The Hellish Vortex label started by Alec Empire and Nic Endo. THV head office is in the centre of Berlin, in the renovated studio which interior design looks like in Stanley Kubrick's "Cosmic Odyssey".
Last year Alec Empire announced the change - leaving his "official" digital hardcore sound and to focus on something he called "the sound of new Berlin". New projects are the results of that sound revolution - collaboration with the band Raveonettes whose single was remixed by Nic and Alec or work on the Patrick Wolf' s single Vultures. And Big Pink - blogoshpera and NME's favourite - was invited to record some compositions to his last album.
Last few months the artist was focused on various and intensive activity. Those, who remember him as a "terrorist of industrial noise", from the time when he appeared on the "Kerrang!" cover, will be surprised. Not pigeonholed, the musician works with many different musicians such as Thurston Moore, Jon Spencer, Dan The Automator or "bad guy" Definitive Jux - Jaime Meline aka El-P.
The single Baby Skulls is the best example of "sound of new Berlin". That electronic music you have never heard before. Berlin is a city of the most hedonistic night clubs in Europe, the city, where there is no place for compromises if you search new impulses. The only way to survive and to evolve is to recreate oneself again and again. Only this way you can stay on the top. In the single If You Live or Die Robbie Furze from Big Pink plays the guitar as a guest.
Shivers will be released in the digital format by Eat Your Heart Out Records (on iYubes as a bonus you can find full broadcasted concert), and the limited series of CD albums in special covers will be released.
In the next future Alec Empire and Nic Endo will give series of concerts on which they will play compositions from Atari Teenage Riot time and from the planned newest album.
