New Theatre in Poznań
|Address:||ul. Dąbrowskiego 5, Poznań|
Teatr Nowy im. Tadeusza Łomnickiego w Poznaniu (New Theatre in Poznań) is located in an Art Nouveau tenement house erected in 1907 at 5 Dąbrowskiego Street by the then owners of the plot, architects Herman Böhmer and Paul Preul. The building once accommodated a show venue called Bandolina which later became a cabaret called Alt-Posen Vergnügungslokal. It has been the seat of Teatr Nowy since 1923. Today, the company comprises 38 full-time and 12 freelance actors, in addition to 60 administration and technical staff members. The theatre runs its own dressmaking, woodwork, modelling, makeup, upholstery and decoration shops. Plays are performed on three stages: Scena Duża (Main Stage, for 365 viewers), Scena Nowa (New Stage, since 1977, for 150 viewers) and Scena Trzecia (Third Stage, since 2005, for 78 viewers) situated in a former woodwork shop.
